Your Data Never Leaves Your Mac

This policy covers all apps published by Salty Gnome LLC — including DiskPulse and SnapPulse. The short version: we can't see your data because our apps never phone home.

100% Local-Only Processing

Overview

This privacy policy applies to all applications developed and published by Salty Gnome LLC ("we", "us", or "our"), including:

  • DiskPulse — a macOS utility that monitors the size of user-selected folders on the local file system.
  • SnapPulse — a macOS utility that watches screenshot folders, performs on-device OCR and entity detection, and provides intelligent actions and session grouping.

The Short Version

Every Salty Gnome app runs entirely on your Mac. They make zero network connections, contain zero tracking SDKs, and send zero data to us or anyone else. We literally cannot see your files, your screenshots, or your OCR-extracted text because our apps never phone home.

What We Do NOT Collect

Salty Gnome LLC does not collect, store, transmit, or process any user data whatsoever. Specifically:

  • No personal information — we do not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, or device identifiers.
  • No file names or folder structures — our apps read local data but never transmit file names, paths, or directory trees off your device.
  • No file contents or screenshot images — our apps never upload, transmit, or share any file contents, screenshots, or OCR-extracted text.
  • No usage analytics — we do not use any analytics frameworks, crash reporting SDKs, or telemetry services.
  • No tracking SDKs — our apps contain zero third-party tracking libraries, ad networks, or fingerprinting tools.
  • No network connections — our apps make no outbound network requests of any kind. They operate entirely offline.

DiskPulse — Data That Stays on Your Mac

The following data is stored locally in the App's sandboxed container via UserDefaults and is never transmitted:

  • Monitored folder list — the paths and security-scoped bookmarks for the folders you choose to monitor.
  • Folder sizes and growth history — aggregate byte counts and 7-day trend data used to render charts.
  • Scan intervals — your per-folder custom scan schedule preferences.
  • Ignore list — the file and folder names you have chosen to exclude from monitoring.
  • Notification thresholds — your chosen alert sizes for large files and folder growth.

All of this data lives in your Mac's standard App sandbox container and is automatically removed if you delete the App.

SnapPulse — Data That Stays on Your Mac

The following data is stored locally in the App's sandboxed container (Application Support as JSON) and is never transmitted:

  • Watched folder list — the paths and security-scoped bookmarks for the screenshot folders you choose to monitor.
  • OCR-extracted text — text recognized from your screenshots using Apple's on-device Vision framework. This text is stored locally to enable search and entity detection.
  • Detected entities — links, emails, phone numbers, addresses, codes, dates, file paths, and QR/barcode data extracted from OCR text.
  • Session data — grouping information, AI-generated titles, summaries, and key insights produced by Apple Intelligence on-device.
  • Perceptual hashes — small numeric fingerprints used for duplicate detection. These are not reversible to the original image.
  • User preferences — notification settings, auto-cleanup rules, duplicate detection sensitivity, and display preferences.

SnapPulse stores file paths as references — it does not make copies of your screenshots. All stored data is automatically removed if you delete the App.

AI Processing (SnapPulse)

SnapPulse's AI features — including session titles, summaries, and key insights — are powered exclusively by Apple Intelligence using Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework. All AI processing happens locally on your Apple Silicon Mac. No text, images, or data are sent to any cloud service, API, or external server for AI analysis.

macOS App Sandbox

Both DiskPulse and SnapPulse are fully sandboxed as required by the Mac App Store. They run in isolated containers with strictly limited access to your system. The apps can only access folders you explicitly grant permission to via the macOS file picker. These permissions are maintained through security-scoped bookmarks and can be revoked at any time.

Third-Party Services

Our apps use zero third-party services, SDKs, or frameworks. They are built entirely with Apple's native frameworks — SwiftUI, Foundation, AppKit, Vision, and UserNotifications. No data is shared with any third party for any purpose, ever.

Children's Privacy

Because our apps do not collect any data from any user, they inherently comply with children's privacy regulations including COPPA. No special measures are needed because no data collection occurs.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update this page and the "Last Updated" date above. Any material changes that would introduce data collection will be clearly communicated via an App update on the Mac App Store.
